In August 2009, Alexander McCowan and accredited producer, Dale Penner, set to work recording 'Thief' at Paradise Alley Studio in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The 'Thief' EP contains seven folk/pop songs, all but one written and composed by Alexander himself. His unique and playful songwriting on 'Thief' work alongside the catchy and melodic hooks he is drawn to, both as a guitarist and as a vocalist. "Yeah, I'm trying to keep it simple. My uneducatedness in music helps that. But I got some good help from some real talented musicians." On 'Thief', Alexander is joined by Daniel Roy on drums, Paul Yee on bass, Tim Elias, who played seven different instruments as well as provided back-up vocals, and Stan Bedernjak on the accordion.
