Third Leg of 'Thief' Tour

 The third leg of Alexander McCowan's 'Thief' tour has announced some preliminary dates. More dates are expected to be announced in early August. Cities included in the third leg thus far: Calgary, AB, Kelowna, BC, Osoyoos, BC, Vancouver, BC, and Edmonton, AB. For more information, click here: LIVE.

Video Clip of the Month - June/July 2010

The Clip of the Month for both June and July come from a live performance at The Apollo in Thunder Bay, Ontario.  
Recorded on June 17, 2010, the clips include the songs 'Where The Wild Tigers Go' and 'Honeybee'.

Second Leg of the 'Thief' Tour Announced

 We are pleased to announce the following cities to be included in the Second leg of the 'Thief' Tour: Victoria, BC, Winnipeg, MB, Thunder Bay, ON, Ottawa, ON, and Brandon, MB. Please go to the LIVE tab for more information and dates.

As well, Alexander McCowan will be spending the week of June 21-26 in the city of Toronto. Unfortunately, no shows were able to be booked, so Alexander will take the music from 'Thief' to the streets in the city of the musical heartbeat of Canada.  
Alexander will busk, attend open mic nights and generally invade the city of Toronto to promote 'Thief'.

The Official 'Thief' Tour Has Begun...

 Yes, its true. Go check out the LIVE for more details. This is the first leg of Alexander McCowan's Official 'Thief' Tour and has him making stops in Steinbach and Winnipeg, Manitoba and in Edmonton, Alberta. He will perform all these dates as a solo act, showcasing material from his latest EP 'Thief' as well as numerous well-known cover songs. 
Alexander has commented, "This will be fun."

Video Clip of the Month - April 2010

 The second installment of Video Clip of the Month has arrived early and can be watched by clicking here: GUERILLA.

This month's video clip contains the original song "Muses". It was the first song performed by Alexander McCowan at the 'Thief' CD Release Show on November 12, 2009. It was recorded inside the historic Park Theatre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The entire first set of that concert - containing four songs: "Muses", "(Straight To Your Heart) Like A Cannonball", "Only Love Can Break Your Heart", and "It Shook Me"  - will be up and available to be watched on YouTube.com by the end of this week (March 20th).

The second set, which included backing band members Jaime Carrasco, Meg Dolovich, Ariel Posen, and Erik Pescitelli and Allison Shiach on backing vocals, is undergoing editing. Predictions for the completion of this project is late April. Just in time for the May edition of the Video Clip of the Month.

 Just recently Alexander McCowan was featured on a segment of Shaw TV's 'Backstage' with Tracy Koga.  Alexander perfomed 'The Digger' as well as answered a couple questions. To see the clip in full, follow these steps:

'Thief' CD Release show a great success.  We would thank everyone that made the 'Thief' CD Release Show such a big success. The show was filmed in its entirety and plans are in the works to get parts of it up on this website as well as YouTube by early December. Plans are now being constructed to further promote the 'Thief' EP. Check out photos of the show on the Photographs page.

Below the decal of Kelly Hughes Live! on the right-hand side of the screen, scroll down the list of available streaming shows. Click on KHL! 11.6.09. Alexander performed three songs on the show: 'The Digger' about five minutes into the show, 'Juste Comme Jacqueas Cousteau' about half way through the program, and 'Long Road' (a cover of Eddie Vedder's song from the 'Dead Man Walking' soundtrack) right at the very end.

Work for Alexander McCowan's first EP, entitled 'Thief', concludes.  Produced by Dale Penner (Nickelback, Holly McNarland, The Matthew Good Band, among others) the seven song collection was recorded at Paradise Alley Studios in Winnipeg, Manitoba over a two week period. Alexander was joined by drummer Daniel Roy and bassist Paul Yee to bring to life the singer/songwriter's unique folk/pop songs, while multi-instrumentalist Tim Elias use of the cuatro, banjo, mandolin, dobro and his own voice, added texture and color to the pieces.
The recording, which will be sent away to be mastered and then packaged, will be officially released online and with retailers on November 17, 2009.  As of this time, Alexander McCowan was unavailable for comment.
